Hybrid Vehicle Manufacturer to Hire 200 in Southeast Michigan

Bright Automotive is now hiring to fill 200 green jobs in Southeast Michigan over the next year to bring its IDEA concept vehicle to market. Available positions include vehicle and manufacturing engineering in the areas of design, body, interior, chassis, electrical, powertrain and vehicle development as well as key business functions such as supply chain management, information technology, sales, marketing and finance.

The 200 positions will be based in Rochester Hills, Michigan, at the new technical center the company recently announced its plans to open in 2011. Along with its operations in Anderson, Indiana, the facility will serve as the primary center for research, design and development of the IDEA. The center is located at the former Chrysler call center in the University Technological Park; the building has been empty for about a year.

"Bright Automotive is building a team that is innovative, collaborative and entrepreneurial to engineer and bring to market its transportation solution focused on reducing fleet operating costs and improving efficiency while simultaneously reducing the environmental impact of operation," said COO Mike Donoughe. "As a symbol for change in the automotive industry, our expanding company is seeking individuals who thrive in an environment of creativity, growth, and shared objectives."

The Michigan Economic Growth Authority granted Indiana-based Bright Automotive $4.3 million in tax credits over five years to relocate to the state. The MEGA tax credit required a match from the local community; the ?Rochester Hills City Council? recently authorized a personal property tax exemption for Bright for a period of two years, beginning Dec. 30, 2011.

"The state of Michigan offers a diverse talent pool primed with individuals to help us meet the needs of our business," added Sandy Fiaschetti, vice president of people development. "As a company, Bright Automotive is committed to helping retain talent in the state with positions available for recent graduates as well as seasoned professionals."
