Using a background in geology or atmospheric science as their foundation, students can use an interdisciplinary approach to study ground-water contamination, landfill management, landslide risk, urban planning, climate change, and many other contemporary environmental issues.

The Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences undergraduate programs prepare students to investigate a wide variety of areas, with a common emphasis on an understanding of interactions between and within different parts of the Earth system. Within our interdisciplinary department, students may specialize in one or more aspects of the Earth system.
