Kern County, CA, to Get More Wind Jobs

The 34 new V90 turbines will be operational at the end of 2011 and will increase Brookfield's total North America wind power generation capacity by 102MW, to a total of 600MW.

The new order is a big win for Vestas who just incurred a loss in the first quarter of 2011. Once installed, Vestas will have 1,255 MW of its industry-leading wind turbines throughout the state of California.

Brookfield already has some experience with Vestas' V90 turbines; it's currently installing the same technology at the Granite Reliable Wind Project in New Hampshire.

The project expansion is expected to provide direct and indirect economic benefits to Kern County with long-term green jobs and property-tax revenues generated from the turbines.
