Coalition Meets To Support Green Jobs Legislation

A coalition of environmentalists, workers and business people gathered Monday in support of legislation aimed at creating more green jobs.

The Green to Gold proposal would provide funds for entrepreneurs to get their green ideas off the ground, which would create more jobs.

Lawmakers say this would be a big boost for the state.

"If we can capture this for the state of Michigan, you know, there are no losers here. The state wins, uh, our future work force wins, because this will go on for many, many, many years as a growing industry that produces good jobs in the state of Michigan," said Representative Mark Meadows, East Lansing.

The proposed legislation has the support of several environmental groups, including the Sierra Club as well as the state AFL-CIO.
