Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC)
IREC is a nationally recognized thought leader, stakeholder coordinator, expert resource and facilitator of regulatory reform.
For nearly three decades, IREC, a non-profit corporation with tax-exempt status, has worked with industry, government, educators and other stakeholders to ensure that the broader use of renewable energies is possible, safe, affordable and practical, particularly for the individual consumer. Our successes are embedded in national energy policies and in updated utility and industry standards and best practices. And our expert input continues to shape rules and regulations in more than 40 states.
While we’ve worked hard and long and often quietly, we’ve become broadly recognized as a unique resource and conduit for change in the renewable energy arena. Our ability to identify obstacles early and our problem solving approach has continued to shape our identity, raise our national and international profile, and positioned us as an innovative leader.
As the renewable energy landscape continues to expand, IREC is committed to the identification of new issues and to overcoming the challenges that arise. We’ll remain at the forefront of education, rulemaking and workforce development, including programs and policies lead to easier, more affordable connection to the utility grid; fair credit for renewable energy produced; best practices for states, municipalities, utilities and industry; and quality assessment for the growing green workforce through the credentialing of trainers and training programs.
