There are two concentration options within the B.S. in Biology curriculum, the Biological Sciences concentration and the Applied Biology concentration. These concentrations share a common core group of required Biological Science courses, but differ in regards to Biological Science elective courses and required Chemistry courses.

The Applied Biology concentration includes greater flexibility in selecting Biological Science and other science elective courses, and is often an appropriate choice for students seeking employment directly following graduation with the B.S. degree.

The Biological Sciences concentration is generally recommended for those students planning to seek admission to medical, dental, or certain other health-related programs following graduation. The Biological Sciences concentration is also generally recommended for students interested in pursuing graduate studies in Biology, or other related fields. Students are strongly encouraged to discuss their career goals with their advisor so they will select the concentration that will best prepare them to achieve those goals.
